Timothy Ray Cooper “Coop”, age 65, of North Platte passed away April 6, 2015 peacefully at his home. He was born February 6, 1950 to Bill and Geriene (Batty) Cooper in North Platte. Tim attended North Platte Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1968. He hired on the Union Pacific Railroad February 7, 1969 and worked as a car foreman. On October 2, 1970 he married his high school sweetheart, Pat Stillwell in North Platte. To this union were born two sons, Shawn Timothy and Koby Ray.
He was a car foreman for 38 years and was well respected by all his employees. He always worked the midnight shift by choice and he holds the record for no on duty injuries to him or his crew. He was a member of the ARASA union, American Railway and Airlines Supervisors Association.
Tim was an avid drummer and had a great love for music that was a life-long passion, playing with a rock band when he was young, but made money drumming for a country band.
He liked fast cars, until law enforcement and insurance companies decided he needed to slow down! He switched to jeeps and 4 wheeling. He loved to camp, spending time with his family and friends. He always lit up the camp fire in the middle of the night at the top of his voice.
He is survived by his wife of 44 plus years, Pat of North Platte; sons, Shawn (Nina) Cooper and Koby Cooper all of North Platte; granddaughters, Shyenne, Taylor, Madison, and Carissa; grandsons, Brandon and Jacob; brother, Tom Cooper of Ponca City, OK; sister, Carol Henningsen of North Platte; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Lilian Jones; and the world’s best mother-in-law, Reita Stillwell.
Memorials may be made in his name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.
