Vivian Signa (Smith) Pell, age 71 formerly of North Platte, passed away peacefully Thursday April 9, 2015 in Nebraska City, NE with her family by her side.
Vivian was born on April 4, 1944 in Stephenson, MI to Robert and Signa (Patterson) Smith. She grew up in Nebraska in the home of her Uncle Marshal and Aunt Francis Edwards. She attended Maxwell Public Schools and after graduation completed courses at the North Platte Beauty Academy in 1962. She married Dwain Pell on July 5, 1962 and to the union four children were born. She enjoyed being a stay at home Mom until all her children were grown, when she pursued a catering career. She then went to work at Great Plains Medical Center, retiring in April of 2009. Her favorite hobbies and pastimes were cooking, gardening, crafts, camping, playing Yhatzee and cards and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as being a kind hearted, fun spirited lady with a great sense of humor.
Vivian is survived by her children Cheryl (Chuck) Walgren of Nebraska City, NE, Tim Pell of North Platte, Ted (Kris Schween) Pell of North Platte; and brother Clifford (Linda) Smith of North Platte; additional siblings Marsha Lovato, Kathy Edwards, Jackie (Terry) Young and Londa (Harry) Haythorn; and sisters-in-law Frances Vedder and Phyliss Heiss; 10 grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Dwain; daughter Cindy Shelton; an infant brother; her Aunt and Uncle Edwards; and sibling Charlie Edwards; and brothers-in-law Verlin Vedder, Carl Schlintz and Gaylan Heiss.
Memorials are suggested in her name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday April 15, 2015 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with the Reverend Brent Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow at the North Platte Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday April 14, 2015 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
