2 Teens Arrested in Connection to Shooting of Omaha Student

crime-scene-police-shootOMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha police say two more teens have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a high school student.

The 17-year-olds face accessory charges in the shooting of 18-year-old Tyrus Harris. One has been charged as an adult, and the other as a juvenile. Another 17-year-old boy was booked following the March 31 shooting on suspicion of first-degree felony assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.

The Associated Press typically does not name juveniles charged with crimes.

Harris, a North High School student, remains hospitalized in serious condition after being shot near the school. Harris is a senior and played on the state championship football team last season.

Authorities say the 18-year-old was shot after a verbal altercation escalated after school.
