The Mid-Plains Community College rodeo team will compete in the Bobby Gottsch Jr. Memorial College Rodeo at Hastings College May 1 – 2.

In the current standings of the Great Plains region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, the men’s team is currently in eighth place with 1,070 points.  The women’s team is in 10^th place with 170 points.

Individually, Duell Puttergill is in sixth in saddle bronc riding. In bull riding, Keali’i’auka Kaai is in fourth place with 290 points, fifth place is Colter Glendy with 230 points.  Tyler Viers is sixth with 190 points.  Tyler Wriedt is in 11^th place with 80 points and Dakota Rice is tied for 12^th with 70 points. Tyler Murray is tied for 11^th in steer wrestling.

The top three students in each event, and top two men’s and women’s teams from the NIRA’s 11 regions will qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo, which will be held in Casper, Wyo. June 14 – 20 at the Casper Event Center.
