Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team wrapped up another practice on Tuesday as the Huskers prepare for the Saturday afternoon showdown with the Miami Hurricanes in the Sunshine State. NU practiced outside on the Ed and Joyanne Gass grass practice field and inside the Hawks Championship Center for just over 90 minutes in half pads.

Nebraska offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf met with the media following practice, mentioning that it will be nice to have tight end Cethan Carter back into the mix on offense.

“It is great to have him (Carter) back, he is an exciting player, just adding depth to that group will help us—we can be a little more versatile,” Langsdorf said. “With having him and his route running and catching ability, he is going to be a great weapon for us.”

Langsdorf also talked about the improvement he has seen with junior quarterback Tommy Armstrong since the start of the season.

“I think his decision making, I thought especially last week there were some great examples of coming off of his first read and checking the ball down and getting it to the number two guy,” he said.

“I think the comfort level with what he is looking for, and what he is seeing with coverage and knowing where to go with the ball was pretty evident in that game, which is good.”

Junior running back Terrell Newby left an impression on Langsdorf after his performance against South Alabama. Newby rushed the ball 28 times for 198 yards and two touchdowns, with a long of 32 yards. He also caught two passes for 38 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown reception.

“I think it got better and better as he went, I think having success early and popping some of those runs—a guy really gets into a groove. I thought he was in one of those zones, he just looked good running and made good decisions,” Langsdorf said. “He played fast. I think we expected more out of him and we got it in that game. He showed up ready to play and looked good doing it.”

The Miami Hurricane defense looks to be a solid group according to Langsdorf. He praised their speed especially at the back end, mentioning that it will be tough to move the ball on the Hurricanes.

“They are quick and good up front. They return a lot on their defense, and then they have some big guys. They will be tough to just move out of the way, and they have some back end speed especially at linebacker.”

The Nebraska football team will be back on the practice fields Wednesday as they continue to prepare for their Saturday road showdown against Miami. Coverage between the Huskers and Hurricanes will begin at 2:30 pm (CT) and will be televised nationally on ABC.
