Geneva, Il. – Jake Kielly made 31 saves in his USHL debut, spearheading the Storm to a 2-0 win over the Chicago Steel Saturday from the Fox Valley Ice Arena.

While Kielly held strong in net, John Marino scored at 3:12 of the third on the power play for the go-ahead goal.

The Storm are 3-0-0 this season, the best start for the Storm since the team began with four straight wins in 2003-04.

Tri-City has allowed one 5-on-5 goal through the first three games.

Starting his first regular season game, Kielly held off Chicago through a wild second period, when the Steel ripped 13 shots on net.

Chicago had 23 of its 31 shots in the final two periods.

While the Steel continued to search for opportunities, the Kielly outdueled John Lethemon, who took the loss with 24 saves on 25 shots.

A too-many-men-on-the-ice penalty against Chicago at the 1:28 mark of the third allowed the Storm to score the eventual power-play tally by Marino early in the third.

Marino took a pass from Jake Wahlin and ripped a shot from the center of the point that hit bodies in front and bested Lethemon top shelf.

The Edmonton Oilers draft pick Marino (1g, 4a) has five points for the Storm in the first three games of the season, leading USHL defenseman.

Wahlin has three points (2g, 1a) in three games.

After giving up three power-play goals in a win Friday against Chicago, Tri-City successfully killed two power-play opportunities Saturday.

Next weekend, Tri-City hosts the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Free Kids Friday, October 9, at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m., catch the Storm on “Huskers Night” and grab a Coca-Cola Family Four Fourpack, with four tickets for $40 plus four cokes, four hot dogs and four bags of chips.
