Marilyn Joy Schultz, age 84, of North Platte, NE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at Linden Court in North Platte.

Marilyn was born June 18, 1931, to Orrie Filmore and Alice Irene Wright Birdsell at Wayne, NE where she grew up. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1949.

Marilyn was united in marriage to Myron Gene Schultz on August 5, 1949, in Sioux City, IA. They made their home in Wayne where they were members of the First Presbyterian Church. Marilyn later attended Wayne State College for a year and studied bookkeeping. After Myron passed away in 1970, she moved to North Platte in ’75.

Marilyn was a past member of the Eagles, VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.

She leaves behind her daughters, Kerry McDonald (Dan Johnson), of North Platte and Denise Schultz (Doug Zwiebel), of Loveland, CO; six grandchildren, KayLynn Schultz, Nikki Schultz, Shadelle (Nick) Ayers, Jeannie (Michael) Joyce, Stephany (Mike) Andersen and Rebecca McDonald; 20 great-grandchildren; her brother, James (Donna) Birdsell, of Greeley, CO; family friend, Mike Walter, of North Platte; and several nieces, nephews and other family.

Along with her husband, Myron, Marilyn was preceded in death by their son, James; parents, Orrie and Alice Birdsell; and a brother, Bob Birdsell.

Cremation was chosen. Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Pastor Richard Karr officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or prior to services on Friday. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
