Creighton hoping transfers Watson, Huff can spark turnaround

creightonOMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Creighton men’s basketball team tied for ninth in the Big East last season, and that’s where the Bluejays are picked to finish again.

Even though the Bluejays return only one starter, coach Greg McDermott believes his team will be improved over the one that went 14-19 for the program’s first losing season since 1995-96.

Creighton brings in transfers Maurice Watson and Cole Huff. Watson was the All-Patriot League point guard for Boston University in 2013-14. Huff is a forward who averaged 12 points and five rebounds as a starter for Nevada in 2013-14. Huff also was Creighton’s leading scorer during its summer trip to Italy.

The Bluejays play an exhibition against Upper Iowa on Nov. 6 and start the regular season at home Nov. 14 against Texas Southern.
