Freshmen lead Huskers Past Lions

Lincoln – Freshmen Glynn Watson Jr., Ed Morrow Jr. and Michael Jacobson recorded career highs in points while five Huskers scored in double figures as Nebraska defeated Southeastern Louisiana 92-65 Sunday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Cornhuskers were led by Watson who netted 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. Morrow and Jacobsen both chipped in 11 points, while Tai Webster scored 13 points and Benny Parker tallied 10 markers.

NU held a 52-31 advantage on the boards, led by Jacobson’s career high seven rebounds. Shavon Shields also had seven boards, while Jake Hammond, Andrew White III and Webster had six. Webster’s rebound total was a career high.

Nebraska got off to a fast start early on and never trailed in the game. The Huskers began the game on an 18-2 run before the first media timeout, hitting eight of their first ten shots. NU led 53-16 at the half with Webster scoring 11 first half points and Watson pitching in 9 over the first 20 minutes of action.

Dimi Cook led the Southeastern Louisiana in scoring with a game-high 16 points. The Huskers held the Lions without a 3-pointer for the game, as they went 0-14 from behind the arc.

The Huskers conclude their three-game homestand Tuesday night against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be carried on the Husker Sports Network and will be streamed online on BTN Plus.
