LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The new chancellor of the University of Nebraska’s Lincoln campus has been selected from within the university system’s ranks.

Ronnie Green was named Wednesday as UNL’s new chancellor. He previously served as NU’s vice president for agriculture and natural resources and is UNL’s Harlan vice chancellor of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The university began the search for a new chancellor last spring after Chancellor Harvey Perlman announced his plan to leave the office and return to the law school faculty.

Green grew up in Virginia and received bachelor and master’s degrees in animal science from Virginia Tech and Colorado State University, respectively. He completed his doctorate jointly at the University of Nebraska and the USDA-ARS U.S. Meat Animal Research Center in animal breeding and genetics in 1988.
