NPCC Lady Knights Volleyball Lose Two on Day One of Pizza Hut Invite

NPCC Knights LogoNorth Platte – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights Volleyball team lost their first two matches of the Pizza Hut Invitational in Sterling, Colo., losing to Region IX Division I opponents Sheridan College Lady Generals and Casper College Lady Thunderbirds.

In the first match against the Lady Generals, the Lady Knights lost in three sets by the score of 16-25, 23-25, and 23-25.  Jessica Lovitt led the Lady Knights in kills with 11.  Madi Gilg had 15 set assists, Megan Chintala had 19 defensive digs, and Shelby Wolever had 5 service points to also lead the Lady Knights.

In the second match against the Lady Thunderbirds, the Lady Knights lost in four sets, 24-26, 25-23, 24-26, and 21-25.

Lady Knights Head Coach Alexa McCall said, “Against Casper we came out with more fire. We changed some things up and they worked hard. We just have to learn what it takes to finish and win a game.”

Palmer had 13 kills, Wolever had 28 set assists, Antonya Schaffert had 14 defensive digs, and Chintala had 11 service points to lead the Lady Knights.

The Lady Knights will continue tomorrow in the tournament with two more matches.  They will face Cloud County Community College at 10 a.m., then finish off their portion of the tournament against Otero Junior College at 4 p.m. Central time.
