William ‘Bill’ Brosius Jr.

William “Bill” Brosius, Jr. age 99, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Stapleton, NE, died February 14, 2019 at his residence in Colorado Springs, CO.  He was born January 22, 1920 in Logan County to William Sr. and Frances (Christ) Brosius.  Bill graduated from Gandy High School at the age of 16 after which he attended Kearney State.  Bill served in the Navy in a pilot program before returning to the farm and ranch near Stapleton.  On February 9, 1950, he married Donna Connor of North Platte, NE.  He spent most of his life farming, which he tolerated, and ranching, which he loved.  He played on the Stapleton Basketball Town Team for many years including a game with the Globe Trotters.

His true passion was flying and had a plane with his father and brother Vernon.  In 1992, Bill, Donna, and their son, Tim, moved to Colorado Springs, CO to be closer to their daughter Shaun, but we all know it was the grandchildren that pulled them there.  Both Bill and Donna loved to play bridge and would play 5 or 6 times a week (more if willing bridge players were available.)  Bill was known for his jokes and could remember all the punch lines. He touched the lives of many people through his fun loving, optimistic nature.

Survivors include his daughter, Shaun Brosius Klein; son-in-law, Dr. Gary Klein; grandson, Ryan (Alli) Klein; granddaughter, Andrea (Nicholas) Kobayashi; five great grandchildren, Josie, Leah, Colin, and the twins, Eleanor and Patrick; sister-in-law, Karen Brosius of Stapleton; and numerous other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Donna; a son, Tim Brosius; brothers, Bernard Brosius, Petie Brosius, Vernon Brosius, and Kenneth Brosius; and sisters, Mary Brosius and Helen (Brosius) Breen.
