WASHINGTON (AP) — Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush wants to be president.

That’s according to his brother, former President George W. Bush, who notes that Jeb hasn’t made any final decisions about the 2016 presidential contest.

George W. Bush told Fox News on Thursday that the pair recently spoke about Jeb’s political future at an event honoring veterans. The elder Bush says he’s encouraging his brother to run. George W. Bush says “he thinks” his brother wants to.

He says Jeb would “make a great president” in part because he watched his father and brother serve in the White House.

George W. Bush says that Jeb is “a very thoughtful man” who’s weighing his options.

Jeb Bush would be an early front-runner should he enter the race for the next Republican presidential nomination.

Lincoln Schools’ Transgender Training Causes Worry

lincoln-public-schoolsLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — At least one parent is protesting steps Lincoln Public Schools have taken to address transgender issues.

Rachel Terry has children at Lincoln Southeast High School and Irving Middle School. She’s sent emails to other parents asking them to join her at an October school board meeting.

During administrative training days before the school year began, district officials spoke with school leaders to help them better understand issues transgender students face.

Brenda Leggiardo is the district’s coordinator of social workers and counselors. Leggiardo says the district has trained staff on social issues for many years, but this is the first year they’ve specifically discussed transgender issues. Handouts were given to teachers on suggestions to make students feel comfortable.
