Lilarae Landis

Lilarae Landis, age 88, of North Platte, passed away peacefully at
Linden Court on  Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

Lilarae was born June 17, 1930, to Ray and Lilian (Hansen) Casey at
Kennard, Nebraska.  She grew up in Gregory, South Dakota, and graduated
from Gregory High School.

Lilarae was united in marriage to Roy DeWayne Landis in Gregory and they
later moved to Nebraska, living in O’Neill, Ogallala, Scottsbluff, North
Platte and Columbus.  After Roy retired from NPPD they returned to
Ogallala in 1986 then moved back to North Platte in ’91.

Lilarae was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where
she helped serve lunches with her circle.  She loved cooking, baking and
cake decorating and was a great baker.  At the church Lilarae was known
to many as “The Cinnamon Roll Lady”.  She enjoyed playing bridge with
her friends in several different bridge clubs, decorating and making
center pieces for special occasions.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Lon) Landis, of Westerville,
Ohio, Timothy Landis, of Friend, Nebraska, Kathryn (Jerry) Ellis, of
Billings, Montana, Carole Nichols, of North Platte, Richard (Jacque)
Landis, of Scottsbluff and Daniel Landis, of North Platte; 14
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and other family.

Lilarae was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her parents, Ray and
Lilian Casey; brother, Russell Casey; and sisters, Clara Ritter, Phyllis
Hancock and Mary O’Neal.

Cremation was chosen.  Memorial Service will be Friday, April 12, 2019,
at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Douglas A.
Delp officiating.  Private inurnment will be in Fort McPherson National
Cemetery.  The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or before
the service at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which is in charge
of arrangements.

Leonard M. ‘Bud’ Priel

Leonard M. “Bud” Priel, 89, of North Platte passed away February 20, 2019 at the North Platte Care Center.  Bud was born on June 28, 1929 in Sutherland to Patrick E. and Isabell (Wilmes) Priel.

Bud attended the 8th and 9th grades at Kearney Catholic School, returning to Sutherland and graduating from the high school there in 1947.  He hired out on the Union Pacific Railroad with the Maintenance of Way Department.  He married Betty Hughes on June 18, 1950 at Betty’s parents home south of Sutherland.  The couple moved with the railroad up and down the railroad lines, settling in Gothenburg where they stayed for 13 years before moving to North Platte in 1970, where Bud continued to work for the UPRR in the signal department until his retirement in 1989.

Bud was instrumental in starting Operation Life Saver, was a union griever, a member of the Elks serving as a past Exalted Ruler, and a member of the Presbyterian Church.  He and Betty hosted Miss Rodeo America for 15 years during the Nebraskaland activities.  Bud enjoyed hunting, and always had dogs, gardening, yardwork, auctions, and refinishing furniture.  He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of North Platte; children, Dan (Connie) Priel of Cambridge,  Tamara (Rick) Rasby of Lincoln, and Kent (Cara) Priel of North Platte; grandchildren, Holli (Mike) Oberg of Farnam, Zach (Mona) Priel of Cozad, Nick (Sarah) Rasby of Lincoln, Andra Rasby of Los Angeles, CA., and Brittney Mullins of Hoxie, KS; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary McVay of North Platte; brother-in-law, Donald Fleecs of Sutherland; numerous other family members; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Peggy Fleecs.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church.  Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery near Sutherland.  Visitation will be 12-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends 5-7 pm Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

William ‘Bill’ Brosius Jr.

William “Bill” Brosius, Jr. age 99, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Stapleton, NE, died February 14, 2019 at his residence in Colorado Springs, CO.  He was born January 22, 1920 in Logan County to William Sr. and Frances (Christ) Brosius.  Bill graduated from Gandy High School at the age of 16 after which he attended Kearney State.  Bill served in the Navy in a pilot program before returning to the farm and ranch near Stapleton.  On February 9, 1950, he married Donna Connor of North Platte, NE.  He spent most of his life farming, which he tolerated, and ranching, which he loved.  He played on the Stapleton Basketball Town Team for many years including a game with the Globe Trotters.

His true passion was flying and had a plane with his father and brother Vernon.  In 1992, Bill, Donna, and their son, Tim, moved to Colorado Springs, CO to be closer to their daughter Shaun, but we all know it was the grandchildren that pulled them there.  Both Bill and Donna loved to play bridge and would play 5 or 6 times a week (more if willing bridge players were available.)  Bill was known for his jokes and could remember all the punch lines. He touched the lives of many people through his fun loving, optimistic nature.

Survivors include his daughter, Shaun Brosius Klein; son-in-law, Dr. Gary Klein; grandson, Ryan (Alli) Klein; granddaughter, Andrea (Nicholas) Kobayashi; five great grandchildren, Josie, Leah, Colin, and the twins, Eleanor and Patrick; sister-in-law, Karen Brosius of Stapleton; and numerous other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Donna; a son, Tim Brosius; brothers, Bernard Brosius, Petie Brosius, Vernon Brosius, and Kenneth Brosius; and sisters, Mary Brosius and Helen (Brosius) Breen.

Christian Wake Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2019, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Stapleton.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2019, at St. John’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Gudipalli as celebrant. Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

 

Pamela ‘Pam’ J. Tallmage

Pamela “Pam” J. Tallmage, 53, of North Platte, passed away February 18, 2019 at Great Plains Health.  She was born August 31, 1965 to Beverly and Pauline (Toumey) Kinnersley at Sidney, NE.

Pam attended school at Hershey High School.  She was employed as a fireman/oiler at Union Pacific Railroad for over 10 years.  She enjoyed cooking and reading.  Pam’s grandchildren were the joy of her life.

Pam is survived by her daughter, Kerri (Bryan) Gentry of Cheyenne, WY; son, Scott Tallmage, II of Palm Bay, FL; her mother, Pauline Kinnersley of North Platte; two grandchildren, Brandyn and Bella; three sisters, JoAnn (Bob) Ostendorf of Gothenburg, Terry Sliger of Valentine and Reva Chevalier of North Platte; two brothers, Lee Kinnersley and Tom Kinnersley both of North Platte; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her father; and two nephews, Matthew Scott Kinnersley and Ryan Ostendorf.

Cynthia Marie ‘Cindi’ Wilson-Mastropieri

Cynthia Marie ‘Cindi’ Wilson-Mastropieri, of North Platte, passed away
at the age of 51 on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at the Nebraska Medical
Center in Omaha.

Cindi was born June 14, 1967, at Fort Benning, Georgia, to Sharon and
Steven Wilson.  The family eventually moved to North Platte where Cindi
graduated from North Platte High School in 1985 then attended Joseph’s
College of Beauty.  She went on to earn her Associates of Arts Degree
from Mid-Plains Community College in 2009 and her Bachelor’s Degree from
Penn State in the area of Human Development, Family Studies and Juvenile
Justice in May 2012.

Cindi was passionate about helping others. She worked extensively in the
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area to improve the lives of veterans through
her work as Executive Director of Philadelphia Veterans House,
Outreach/Intake Coordinator of Impact Veteran Services and Traditional
Housing Program, and she helped our nations homeless veterans as
Intensive Case Manager of Impact Services.  While in Philadelphia, Cindi
served as Vice President of SBMC Welcome Home, a mini stand-down once a
month in collaboration with Impact Services to provide veterans with
basic necessities.  When Cindi returned to North Platte she was employed
by DHHS/Child Protective Services.  She loved the work she did and being
able to help others.

On June 17, 2017, Cindi was united in marriage to Joseph Mario
Mastropieri in North Platte where they made their home.  Cindi was a
loving, kind and caring woman.  She loved spending time with her family,
especially her grandbabies.  She is gone too soon and will be missed so
much.

She is survived by her husband, Joe, of North Platte; children, Lacey
(Cody) Sweet, Kayce (James) Richardson, Tyler (Evie) Mora, Shelby
(Bryce) Easton, and Joey Jr.; her mother, Sharon Martens; father, Steven
Wilson; siblings, Dwane (Sheila) Wilson, Alicia (Brandon) Schrotberger
and Diane (Brent) Janssen; grandkids, Brently, Aiden, Kyla, Kaemyn,
Silas, Brody, Ziggy and Remy; as well as many nieces, nephews and other
family.

Cindi was preceded in death by her stepfather, Harry Martens;
stepmother, Neoma Wilson; her grandparents; stepbrother, Jonathan C.
Martens; and stepsister, Melinda Martens-Sagiao.

In keeping with Cindi’s wishes, cremation was chosen.  A memorial
service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Odean
Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Pastor Clint Walker officiating.
The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or prior to the

or children.

Linda Sue (Potts) Mustion

Linda Sue (Potts) Mustion, 58, of Hershey, passed away at the University
of Colorado Hospital in Denver on Friday, February 15, 2019, and through
her death others were saved with her gift of being a donor.

Linda was born January 26, 1961, at Cambridge, Nebraska to William
Arthur ‘Bill’ and Shirley Jean (Day) Potts. Her family lived in various
towns throughout the Midwest and she attended North Glenn High School in
Colorado.

On May 26, 1979, Linda married Rick Snide in Denver and they had two
daughters, Jessica and Amanda.  They made their home in Colorado living
in Aurora, Northglenn and later Kiowa.

Linda later married Richard Mustion on July 24, 2004, and this union
gave Linda three additional children, Scott, Kerry and Terry.  Linda and
Richard made their home in Hershey where Linda was the Clerk for the
Village of Hershey until her health forced her to retire in 2010.

Linda was a member of Valley Christian Church and enjoyed working with
children.  She was a mentor for Teammates at Hershey, spent several
years as a Girl Scout troop leader, and enjoyed working with children at
Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years.  She also
enjoyed many crafts as well as teaching the next generation to sew and
crochet.

Linda was an avid Denver Broncos fan and Nebraska Husker fan. One of her
favorite things to do was host a card night or football watching party.
She especially LOVED her family and friends and spending time with
them.  Linda will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband Richard, of Hershey; children, Jessica
(David) McKay, of Raytown, Missouri, Amanda Snide, Scott Mustion and
Kerry (Mike) Sides, all of Hershey and Terry (Kim) Mustion, of
Cambridge; 11 grandchildren; her mother, Shirley Junker, of Indianola;
three sisters, Kay (Larry) Brew, of Austin, Texas, Judy (Randy) Ekx, of
Gill, Colorado, and Cindy Schluckebier, of Indianola; two brothers,
Walter (Judy) Potts, of Stillwater, Minnesota, and Bill Potts, of Gill,
Colorado; and other family.

Linda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Raymond and Nellie
Potts; father, Bill Potts; and younger sister, Diana Nash.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019, at Valley
Christian Church with Pastor Brent Montgomery officiating.  Burial will
be at 2:00 p.m. at the Indianola Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with family greeting
friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore, which
is in charge of arrangements.  Condolences may be shared at
odeanchapel.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Hershey
Volunteer Fire Department of the Gift of Hope.

James LeRoy ‘Jim’ Guggenmos

James LeRoy ‘Jim’ Guggenmos, 80, of Ogallala, died at Great Plains
Health in North Platte on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

Jim was born May 4, 1938, to Michael Francis and Avis Agnes (Reitz)
Guggenmos at Sargent, Nebraska and grew up in the greater Custer County
area where he graduated from high school. In 1957 Jim married Donna
Smith at Broken Bow, they later divorced.  He married Theresa Reitz on
August 1, 1977, at Grant and they made their home in Ogallala where they
were members of the Assembly of God.

Jim worked for Sargent Irrigation, driving back and forth to Grant for
20 years then worked at Alco in Ogallala until retiring.

When not working, Jim enjoyed working on cars, fishing, hunting, and
trying his luck on scratch tickets.  He also loved to watch old Westerns
and eat.

He is survived by his children, Tom (Kathleen) Guggenmos, of North
Platte, Kyle (Marlene) Guggenmos, of Oakdale, Tamma (Bill) Zulkowski, of
Kearney, Twila Guggenmos, of Oakdale and Annette Kerber, of Norfolk;
numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, John Guggenmos,
of Ogallala; sisters, Yvonne (Rick) Turner, of Gering and Vivien
Peterson, of Arthur; and numerous other family members.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa; and parents, Michael and
Avis.

Funeral Service will be 1 p.m. (CT) Saturday, February 23, 2019, at
Parkview Community Church of the Nazarene in North Platte. Burial will
follow at 2 p.m. (MT) in the Ogallala Cemetery. Visitation is prior to

Delbert Ross Sommer

Delbert Ross Sommer, age 88, of Maxwell, died February 16, 2019 at Great Plains Health.  He was born on June 27, 1930 at the rural Maxwell home of his parents, Albert and Helen (Ross) Sommer.  He was the oldest of 3 children, being a big brother to Marilyn and Donna.

He attended grade school at McPherson School and graduated from Maxwell High School in 1948.  He then served 4 years with the U.S Navy, returning after to the home farm at Maxwell.  During his military time, he married Joyce Meyer at Maxwell on November 30, 1952.  They celebrated 57 years of marriage, and had one son, Dwight, who was born on October 11, 1955.

In 2002 he married Joan Beckman of Overton.  They enjoyed life at the Maxwell farm and did some traveling.  In the fall of 2017, they moved to Linden Estates in North Platte.

Delbert was a member of the First Baptist Church in Maxwell, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Joan of North Platte; sisters, Marilyn Pramberg of Atlanta, Georgia, and Donna Sundstrom of Maxwell; grandchildren, Jason (Gina) Sommer, Shannon Tolle, and Luke and Hayley Sommer; great-grandchildren, Grace, Janie, and Brynlee Sommer, and Hunter Tolle; step-children, Dorinda (Jeff) Zink of Naper, NE, Diane (Terry) Wohlers of Ft. Collins, CO, and Dona (John) McCarter of Overton, NE; 11 step-grandchildren; 27 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; numerous other family members; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; son, Dwight; brothers-in-law, Duane Pramberg, and Larry Sundstrom.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Maxwell with the Reverend Tim Lizenga officiating.  Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with Military honors graveside.  Visitation will be noon – 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

 

Gary Ray Shuck

Gary Ray Shuck, 54, of North Platte, passed away Thursday, February 14,
2019, at the North Platte Care Center.

Gary was born December 5, 1964, at Pocatello, Idaho, to Daniel Shuck Jr.
and Darlene Shuck.  The family moved to Nebraska when Gary was 8 years
old then when he was a junior, he moved to Pecos, New Mexico where he
graduated from Pecos High School in 1984.

After graduating Gary enlisted in the U.S. Army and did his Basic
Training at Ft. Hood, Texas.  He served in the area of Tactical
Telecommunications and earned the rank of Corporal. Following his
honorable discharge in 1992, Gary moved to Marietta, Georgia, married
Linda Cabanis and they later divorced.

Gary drove a truck for over 20 years then retired due to his health.

Survivors include his father, Daniel Shuck, Jr. and his wife, Eloise,
and sisters, Janet (Lloyd) Lockhart and Donna Shuck, all of North
Platte; brother, Robert Shuck, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; niece, Roxie
Heessel; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene; paternal
grandparents, Dan and Hazel Shuck; and maternal grandparents, William
and Roxie Godfrey.

Cremation was chosen and services will be at a later date.  The memorial

Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.

Lori Ann Houser

Lori Ann Houser, 57, of North Platte, lost her battle with cancer on February 14, 2019 at Great Plains Health with her family by her side.  Lori was born on October 8, 1961 to Larry and Rhonda (French) Stacy, Sr. at North Platte, Nebraska.

Lori graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1979.  On November 29, 1980, she was united in marriage to Stephen S. Houser at North Platte.  Lori enjoyed working at Old McDonald Preschool for a number of years and was an animal lover and also enjoyed her garden.

She is survived by her husband, Steve, of North Platte; daughter, Sarah (Stephen) McDowell; two sons, Eric S. Houser and Aaron (Sarah Guest) Houser; parents, Larry and Rhonda; brothr Larry (Melissa) Stacy, Jr; grandchildren, Owen, Haylie and Jeffrey; and other relatives.

Lori was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Donna Houser.
