Hunter Named B1G Co-Setter of the Week

Nebraska sophomore setter Kelly Hunter was named the Big Ten Co-Setter of the Week on Monday by the conference office.

The honor is the second weekly award of the season for the Papillion, Neb., native. She was also the Big Ten Setter of the Week after opening weekend.

Freshmen lead Huskers Past Lions

Lincoln – Freshmen Glynn Watson Jr., Ed Morrow Jr. and Michael Jacobson recorded career highs in points while five Huskers scored in double figures as Nebraska defeated Southeastern Louisiana 92-65 Sunday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Cornhuskers were led by Watson who netted 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. Morrow and Jacobsen both chipped in 11 points, while Tai Webster scored 13 points and Benny Parker tallied 10 markers. Continue reading “Freshmen lead Huskers Past Lions”

Houston’s pick-6, Poe’s TD run carry Chiefs over Chargers

Kansas City Chiefs LogoSAN DIEGO (AP) — Justin Houston intercepted Philip Rivers’ pass and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown and 346-pound defensive tackle Dontari Poe leaped over the pile for a 1-yard touchdown and the Kansas City Chiefs embarrassed the free-falling San Diego Chargers 33-3 Sunday.

Osweiler throws for 2 TDs, Broncos beat Bears 17-15

DenverBroncosCHICAGO (AP) — Brock Osweiler threw for two touchdowns while starting for the injured Peyton Manning, and the Denver Broncos stopped Jeremy Langford on a 2-point conversion run in the final minute to beat the Chicago Bears 17-15 on Sunday.

Lincoln – Jessica Shepard continued her record-setting collegiate start with her third straight 20-point, 10-rebound performance to lead a strong Nebraska post game in an 88-47 women’s basketball victory over North Carolina Central on Saturday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Shepard, who became the first Husker in history to score 20 or more points in the first three games of her career, finished with game highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds, while adding a pair of assists in 24 minutes to the delight of the 4,984 fans in attendance at the arena on Saturday. AUDIO: NPCC Knights Basketball Loses Thriller to Dodge City

npcc dodgeThe North Platte Community College Knights lost their second game of the season falling to the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors 95-92 in a nail-biter at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium Saturday night.

It was their second loss to the Conquistadors this season.  Dodge City defeated the Knights on November 3 at Dodge City 75-61.

Huskers Withstand Hornets, 75-60

Behind a game-high 21 points from Shavon Shields and 20 from Andrew White III, Nebraska improved to 2-1 on the season with a 75-60 win over Delaware State Thursday evening at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers (2-1) built a 25-point second-half lead, only to see the Hornets feverishly cut the deficit to four at 63-59 with 5:09 remaining after a basket from Jason Owens. Shields then ended the nearly seven minute dryspell with a basket before White’s 3-pointer from the wing pushed the lead back to nine, at 68-59, with 4:16 remaining. No. 14 Indiana takes easy route past Creighton 86-65

creightonBLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — James Blackmon Jr. scored 19 points and Thomas Bryant added 17 to help No. 14 Indiana rout Creighton 86-65 on Thursday night.

Bryant dominated the middle as the Hoosiers (3-0) won their third in a row by more than 20 points.
