KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals clinched the AL Central for their first division title in 30 years, beating the Seattle Mariners 10-4 Thursday night.
Johnny Cueto picked up his first victory in nearly six weeks, and the win, coupled with the Minnesota Twins’ 6-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians, ensured a title. The North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team lost a key match on Thursday night against the Southeast Community College Lady Storm 25-14, 25-16. 25-20.

Iowa City, Iowa – The fourth-ranked Nebraska volleyball team began Big Ten play with a 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 sweep at Iowa on Wednesday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Huskers improved to 10-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten with their seventh straight win. Kadie Rolfzen led NU with 14 kills and 10 digs. She had a .387 hitting percentage. Amber Rolfzen added 10 kills, while Mikaela Foecke had seven kills. Kelly Hunter had 40 assists, and Justine Wong-Orantes and Annika Albrecht each had 11 digs. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Lorenzo Cain singled home pinch-runner Paulo Orlando in the 10th inning, and the Kansas City Royals rallied past the Seattle Mariners 4-3 Wednesday night to close in on their first division title in 30 years.

DENVER (AP) — Neil Walker had a career-high six RBIs, including a three-run homer, and the Pittsburgh Pirates clinched their third straight playoff berth by beating the Colorado Rockies 13-7 on Wednesday night.

Wyatt McGuire was named the Big Ten Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
McGuire is the second Husker to earn the weekly award from the conference this season. Peter Spinks captured the honor on Sept. 9.

Kearney, Ne. – Storm Head Coach and General Manager Bill Muckalt announced defenseman Tory Dello has been named team captain for the 2015-16 season and Dan Labosky, Jake Wahlin and Mattias Goransson have been tabbed as assistant captains.
