Huskers Look For Two in a Row, Visit Reeling Gophers
The Husker men’s basketball team goes for a second straight Big Ten conference victory tonight as they travel to the Twin Cities to take on the 23rd-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers. Nebraska is coming off their second conference win of the season, a 64-49 defeat of Northwestern in Lincoln on Saturday. Minnesota has tumbled down the AP Top 25 poll in recent weeks. After reaching as high as the eighth spot, they’ve hit a major pothole in Big Ten play and have lost four straight games, including a one-point loss at Wisconsin on Saturday. The Huskers have seen improvement offensively in recent games, averaging close to 60 points per game in their last four. On the flipside, the Gophers have struggled to score, having been held under 50 points in their last two games. Tipoff tonight at Williams Arena is scheduled for 8:06.
Nuggets Blow Big Lead But Hang On For Win
The Denver Nuggets edged the Indiana Pacers 102-101 at Pepsi Center last night. The Nuggets let a 14-point fourth quarter lead disappear, but with the score tied and 0.4 seconds left, Andre Iguodala made a free throw to give the Nuggets the victory. Danilo Gallinari’s 27 points led the Nuggets offensively. Iguodala contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds. The shorthanded Nuggets were without Javale McGee and Wilson Chandler due to injury. The win is Denver’s fourth straight. They host the Houston Rockets Wednesday night.
Elway Comes Up Short in Exec of the Year Voting
John Elway has finished second a few times in his football life. He can add a second-place spot in voting for the NFL’s Executive of the Year Award to that list of runner-up finishes. Elway finished one vote behind Indianapolis Colts general manager Ryan Grigson in the Sporting News’ poll of league executives. Grigson drafted Andrew Luck with the top overall pick and oversaw a nine-win turnaround in Indy, but Elway had a good case for the award as well after convincing Peyton Manning to come to Denver and increasing the Broncos’ win total by five from the previous year.

Two Decommit From Huskers 2013 Class (UPDATE)
The Husker football recruiting class of 2013 took a substantial hit on Sunday, as four-star safety Marcus McWilson rescinded his commitment to the Huskers. McWilson, from Youngstown, Ohio, is now seriously considering Kentucky, but the Huskers still may pursue him. McWilson’s decommitment was the second of the weekend for the Huskers, after Dominic Walker, a three-star wide receiver from Florida, switched his commitment to Auburn. The Huskers are now down to 22 players in the 2013 class.
UPDATE: McWilson committed to Kentucky on Monday, announcing his pledge on Twitter.

The Nuggets’ 121-93 rout of Sacramento on Saturday night was their third win in a row. Indiana lost to Utah in overtime on Saturday night, their second straight defeat. Rockies Agree With Chacin on Two-Year Deal
The Colorado Rockies believe starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin can bounce back from an injury-marred 2012 season, and are willing to make a multi-year bet that they’re right. Chacin and the Rockies agreed on a two-year deal worth $6.5 million over the weekend. The 25 year-old right-hander missed over three months with a shoulder injury last season, and went 3-5 with a 4.43 ERA in 14 starts after being one of Colorado’s most consistent starters the previous two years.
